Toshiba Renames Themselves Dynabook, Embracing Dynamic Changes

Big news if you’re a fanboy of Toshiba computers (hey, everyone needs a hobby) — they’re renaming themselves “Dynabook”, both in the US and around the world. This does not appear to change anything, except that next time you’re in Best Buy wondering if “Dynabook” was a character in The Incredibles*, you’ll remember it was actually Toshiba. The branding is already live on Toshiba’s website, and they’re using it as an opportunity to showcase the company’s long legacy of technological advancement. It’s actually pretty neat, explaining how Toshiba’s roots include early washing machines, televisions, and of course, early computers. Definitely…

Audioengine’s New A2+ Wireless Speakers Are Small but Mighty

The first hardware I ever reviewed was a set of Audioengine A2 speakers; they were small, powerful and sounded amazing.  In fact, the only knock I had was their lack of wireless capabilities that required me to get a Bluetooth adapter. Now Audioengine has released the Audioengine A2+ Wireless Desktop Speakers, and all I can say is “wow!”

Hopsy Sub Compact Makes a Great (but Noisy) Addition to Your Bar at Home

A few weeks ago, I wrote about the Hopsy SUB Compact, and I’ve been testing it for the last week. The SUB Compact is a beautiful and functional device that will be an excellent addition to any home bar as long as you have patience and can deal with the noise of the cooling fan. The Box The SUB Compact arrived in a large cardboard box which contained both the actual device and four mini-kegs of different flavors each containing 67.6oz of quality beer. One thing to note right off the bat is that this SUB Compact can only be…

If you’re looking for a vaporizer that does it all, you should definitely check out the Arizer Extreme Q. It’s a vape, it’s an aromatherapy device, it’s a high-tech toy, and it’s serious business. Arizer refers to it as their “heavy hitter” and they aren’t kidding.

AirPower Disappears into VaporPower as Apple Cancels It Quietly

Bad news for the six people still holding out hope: AirPower is dead. Apple announced today that the iPhone/Watch/AirPod charging mat could not be made into a viable product. Also, they needed the manpower to get Apple Card up and running-those chamfered titanium edges don’t design themselves. If you were holding out and now need a wireless charging dock, Gear Diary has reviewed devices from Scosche, Satechi, TwelveSouth, Nomad, and many others. It may sting to know that you won’t be able to charge your headphones, watch AND phone all in a perfect, Apple-designed row, but at least there are…

The Ennui of the Current Tech Cycle

Technology runs in cycles. We all know that, but it seems lately like we’ve hit the low end of our current cycle, and whatever the “next big thing” is, we’re spinning our wheels until it gets here.

Yesterday Promises Great Music and a Unique Storyline

I am in no way a movie buff, and it takes something pretty unique to pique my interest. The trailer for Yesterday immediately caught my attention as a unique story coupled with Beatles music. Directed by Danny Boyle, the movie is about a struggling musician who after an accident realizes he is the only person who remembers the Beatles.

Just Mobile AluBase Wireless: Up to 10W of High-Speed Charging Depending on Your Device

If you have an Android phone, you’ll generally know when fast charging is occurring because an on-screen message lets you know. On the iPhone, the only way to tell that fast wireless charging is occurring is to observe how quickly your phone charges during a time period (no, really). Apple fast wireless charging happens at 7.5W and Samsung’s happens at 10W; the Just Mobile AluBase Wireless can handle both.

7 Wireless Chargers for Workspace Functionality
