Lenovo does more than just computers and accessories; they also own Motorola, and that leads to a whole new mobile world as well. While most of us laughed off the sci-fi future that Google Glasses showed, there’s a market for a hands-free way to access all sorts of data safely and easily. Lenovo is taking that to the next level with ThinkReality A3, augmented-reality glasses for the enterprise user.
Sadly, the Lenovo ThinkReality A3 augmented reality glasses are enterprise-only, so you won’t be tethering your glasses to your smartphone anytime soon. The Lenovo ThinkReality A3 glasses’ virtual monitors are compatible and made to work with Lenovo’s ThinkPad laptops and their Intel and AMD Ryzen processor-powered mobile workstations to provide up to 5 virtual displays and an 8-megapixel RGB camera that can stream 1080p for remote expert use cases, and there are dual fish-eye cameras to provide room-scale tracking. The ThinkReality A3 Industrial Edition will tether to select Motorola smartphones for hands-free, AR-supported tasks in complex work environments.
Lenovo sees mixed reality glasses like the ThinkReality A3 as being the future of hospitality, industrials, warehouses, and any other areas where being able to quickly scan and work can make things run more smoothly and efficiently.
The A3 is a next-generation augmented reality solution – light, powerful and versatile. The smart glasses are part of a comprehensive integrated digital solution from Lenovo that includes the advanced AR device, ThinkReality software, and Motorola mobile phones. Whether working in virtual spaces or supporting remote assistance, the ThinkReality A3 enhances workers’ abilities to do more wherever they are. – Jon Pershke, Lenovo Vice President of Strategy and Emerging Business, Intelligent Device Group
It may not be the future for all of us to have heads-up displays strapped to our faces, but you might just find yourself using the ThinkReality A3 at work, thanks to Lenovo!
