Most electric scooters offer the same experience; you get on, ride, and, assuming the motor is powerful enough, you can easily zip around during your commute. But what if part of getting to work means carrying your scooter onto a bus or subway or inside the office once you’ve arrived? With most scooters weighing up to 60 pounds, that can be tricky. But the 700W NIU KQi Air series offers something that should help; each of the two new models has a carbon fiber frame, weighing under 27 pounds.
The NIU KQi Air and NIU KQi Air X look the same, and they have the same specs, but the NIU KQi Air with a carbon fiber (70%) and magnesium (30%) frame weighs just 26.2 pounds, and the NIU KQi Air X with a full carbon fiber frame weighs just 25.8 pounds.
Both electric scooters have die-cast aluminum alloy dual-action brake calipers, a 21,700 lithium-ion battery with 5-hour fast charging capability, and five customizable modes: Sport, Dynamic, E-Save, Cruise, and Pedestrian.
NIU KQi Air series electric scooters are meant to be supremely portable while delivering the performance you need in the city. They each have a 20-mph top speed, a 31-mile range, 265-pound max rider weight, and offer 700W max power, so you’ll get a fun and efficient ride, even when taking on hills with a 20% grade.
The electric scooters have wide handlebars, large 9.5-inch tubeless tires, and a spacious deck for maximum riding comfort. The front-disc brake enhances stopping power, and regenerative braking extends its range and battery life.
You won’t have to worry about someone stealing your ride as the NIU KQi Air series allows you to lock and unlock them through a custom NFC card or via Bluetooth once your phone is in range.
The scooters also have turn signals, an integrated electric horn, and powerful front and rear lights for your riding safety.
Paired with the NIU smart app, your scooter will keep you informed, connected, and in control of your ride. You’ll be able to customize a range of features, including:
- Selecting kick-to-start or zero-start mode.
- Limiting the battery charging capacity to conserve battery life.
- Capping the top speed for first-time users and saving battery life.
- Opting for weak, moderate, or strong levels of regenerative braking.
- Selecting light or standard acceleration modes.
- Adjusting the starting speed to suit rider preference.
