It has been just over a year since I reviewed inkle’s release of Steve Jackson’s Sorcery! interactive game, with the second chapter of that game coming later last year. Now they are back with an interactive game based on Jules Verne’s ‘Around the World in 80 Days’, and once again they have produced a compelling and stunning experience!
I have become a huge fan of wireless charging for phones. Being able to toss your phone on a small pad and let it charge is awesome. The only charging case I have used involved battery cases. Dog & Bone has allowed me to test both their wireless charging case with pad ($139.95) and extended battery ($49.95). Read on for the review.
The introduction of the iPad ushered in the era of an entirely new category of device accessories. Among the impressive “add-ons” to come to market have been stands to allow for hands-free use; the tablift is one such accessory. The $59.95 stand isn’t the most refined hands-free tablet holder we’ve seen, but it more than gets the job done.
If you are looking for a dash cam and don’t want to spend a bundle, the Spytec G1W 1080P HD Car Dash Camera may be just the thing for you. With an MSRP of under $80, and a current price of under $60, is in an inexpensive way to record what happens in just about any vehicle.
The other day we took a look as a neat system that allows you to share the content of your Windows laptop or Android or iOS tablet. Today we’re looking at the Actiontec ScreenBeam Pro Wireless Display Receiver and USB Transmitter offer a fairly simple, and highly convenient, way to “Beam your Screen to your HDTV.”
It’s an age-old question: (put delicately) does a bear go to bathroom in the woods? Of course the answer is yes, but until a few generations ago, so did humans. The makers of the Squatty Potty toilet stool believe the progress that is indoor plumbing may be harmful to your colon health. Here’s a quick look at their proposed solution: First a little background. The team here at Gear Diary has a pretty lively online chat community where we discuss tech trends and possible review topics. But we also are friends who like to support each other when someone needs…
This entertaining Wii U exclusive motors through multiple modes on the way to a satisfying racing experience. Mario Kart 8 continues a grand tradition in the game series with racing, friendly thwarting, and performance boosts featuring Gamepad play (as a second screen), outstanding graphics, and gameplay highlight sharing all in impressively colorful HD graphics.
While Judie continues to use her Sony Xperia Z2 sans case almost all the time I continue to look for the case that will be “just right.” Yes, I want something that is the right balance of protection, refinement, great looks and sharp, complimentary design. I hoped the Incipio FREQUENCY for the Sony Xperia Z2 might be it.
When the Narrative Clip arrived I was excited. Sure, having a small 5MP wearable camera that takes a new picture every 30 seconds would have been great during my recent trip to Israel but it sadly arrived the day after I left. Still, I could see many ways this unobtrusive gadget might make a great photographic diary going forward.
We were using a generic LL Bean backpack as a diaper bag, but when sent the Case Logic Berkeley Plus to review, we switched to it as our main backpack and never looked back. This is a backpack meant for a 15.6″ laptop, but we found it does an amazing job holding kiddo stuff PLUS delicate electronics; it’s only $59.99.
I love iPhone battery cases. They’re convenient because they provide an extra boost when your phone’s battery inevitably wears down, but most battery cases are bulky and heavy. Introducing the Incipio offGRID, a thin battery case for the iPhone 5 and 5s that provides an extra 180% battery capacity with minimal bulk. The Incipio offGRID retails for $79.99.
Apple TV lets you access iTunes or view content from a Mac or iOS device on the big screen. The same holds true for Google Chromecast and Amazon Fire TV. Unfortunately, each only works with devices in that company’s ecosystem. Looking for something more platform agnostic? Check out the IOGEAR Wireless Mobile and PC to HDTV With WiDi and Miracast.
I tend to avoid device-specific accessories these days. My reasoning is simple. You see, I find myself changing my phone and tablet frequently, and I want accessories that will outlast any specific device. The Sony Digital Noise Canceling Headset MDR-NC31EM is an exception. They are specifically designed for the Sony Zperia Z2 phone and tablet, and I’m impressed. Here’s why.
You’ve seen all the different variations and spoofs of “Let It Go” by Idina Menzel from Frozen, Disney’s animated film remake of Hans Christian Andersen’s The Snow Queen story. Now it’s your turn to perform, record, and share your musical performance of the nine original featured songs in the Disney Karaoke: Frozen app on iPad.
When Judie and I were at CES 2014, I kept my camera handy at all times thanks to the Capture Clip from Peak Design. (Read the review.) The Capture Clip started as a Kickstarter Project and quickly became a favorite way for me to carry my camera. Now the company is back with their new Slide, Clutch and Anchor Links.
How to Train Your Dragon 2 The Video Game starts players with one of five familiar characters (with two more unlocked later) amid a mini-game-type format with nice multiplayer and Gamepad-only gameplay options. Players get a memorable open world experience in the Viking island setting of Berk, but only on the dragons as characters cannot dismount and explore by foot.
A short while ago, I wrote about the Kinivo Bluetooth Car Kit; well, they’ve sent me one to review, and I like it so much that I will be ordering at least two more. Why? Because now my non-Bluetooth equipped SUV is now able to stream music and take hands-free calls. This solution is not perfect, but it’s pretty awesome.
One of my daily tasks is finding power for my phone. It sounds so silly, but I use it so much, charging is a must. Since I do not sit at a desk for work, a battery case is a perfect option. Seidio Innocell Plus Combo brings 2X battery life and a nice holster for only $79.95. Let’s take a look.
Wolfenstein The New Order continues as the ninth installment in the game series and a direct sequel to 2009’s Wolfenstein. This single-player, first person shooter experience features an unlimited weapon inventory amid an alternate world set in 1960 where the Nazis won World War II as a familiar U.S. OSA (Office of Secret Action) agent tries to stop the antagonists amid seven overall missions and several story chapters.
Like gearheads, fishermen, and cooks, golfers can’t ever seem to have too many gadgets, especially if they promise to help lower his or her score. The Pill is a new training aid that has a novel design to improve your game all the way from tee to green. Lord knows I need the help, so I gave it a try.
Are you someone who spends more time on your phone texting, emailing, checking social media, and surfing than you actually do making calls? I am, and that’s why I’m intrigued by some of the larger devices available today, including the new Huawei Ascend Mate2. This $299.99 phone with the 6.1 screen might allow you to leave your tablet at home!
