Lenovo makes what I sometimes joke are the Toyota of computer —they aren’t always flashy, but they are solid workhorses that can and will handle anything you toss their way. 2018 is bringing some new updates for the Lenovo ThinkPad lines, and whether you need a ThinkPad T, X, or L, they’ve got you covered with an impressively updated lineup!
With CES 2018 literally days away, companies are already letting it be known that their products will shine bright in Las Vegas. One of those brands is ConnectSense, who is unveiling a product that should be in all homes this year. ConnectSense is attempting to take smart home technology to the next level at the Consumer Electronics Show this week by announcing their connected In-Wall Outlet, which is sure to be one of the bigger hits of the convention. After the success of their Smart Outlet at the 2017 show, ConnectSense is following up with a hard-wired version for your…
Say goodbye to botched dye jobs, because those are about to become a thing of the past. Designed to work within the confines of a professional salon, Henkel’s Schwarzkopf Professional SalonLab ecosystem scans your hair, analyzes it, and then its Customizer machine pops out the perfect bottle of shampoo or color — customized for your specific hair type and condition.
Ahead of CES next week, LG is introducing a new smart TV line up, and not only do these TVs come with an advanced image processor, but they come with artificial intelligence as well. The ThinQ artificial intelligence technology will be rolled out into LG’s 2018 OLED and SUPER UHD TVs.
Remember on the show “The Jetsons,” how George Jetson would hop on a conveyor belt and get washed, dried, brushed, and dressed by a machine? We’re not quite there yet, but LG is getting scarily close with their LG Styler, which is basically a Jetson shower system for your clothes!
A few years ago it looked like the laptop was dying. Instead, a combination of bigger phones and touchscreen computers have pushed new and better innovations into the laptop market, and Samsung is at the forefront of these with their newest additions the Notebook 9 line!
Ahead of CES, Samsung has announced their latest soundbar, the NW700 Sound+. The NW700 Sound+ is a premium sound bar that is wall mountable. But what really makes it unique is that it’s crazy thin and designed to match Samsung’s super-thin tellies.
On Friday the 13th, I had the opportunity to attend an event at the New York Film Festival. Rather than being your typical movie premiere, I was treated to six short films created by emerging NYC filmmakers — ranging from thriller to docu-style — all had been shot on the LG V30.
I like to know how things are made, and I get a special thrill when I’m invited to take a behind-the-scenes look at a product — especially something that I regularly use — being made from start to finish. Recently, along with a small group of writers, I went to Shenzhen and Beijing, China for a behind-the-scenes look at Huawei.
Apple is getting very serious about competing in the smart home business, and more and more companies are joining in with Homekit compatibility. Netatmo is making sure their cameras stay competitive with new firmware updates for their outdoor and indoor cameras. Homekit compatibility means that in between mangling dictated text message and giving you oddball links for simple questions, Siri can also give you a peak at parts of your home using your watch, iPhone or iPad. If you’re not familiar with Netatmo, they offer a number of devices, but their main security cameras are Presence and Welcome. Presence is…
If I told you there was a new in-ear, wind protected, stereo headphone set that could get up to 18 hours battery life during the day for music and talk, you’d figure they had an astronomical price, right? Well, you’d be wrong. The Jabra Elite 25e Headphones even have a dedicated Siri or Google Now button, and they’re just $79.
If you love the idea of a portable speaker, but the little bottle-sized ones just aren’t giving you enough oomph, you’ll want to check out the new JBL Boombox. Available this fall for $449.95, it is practically begging to be the center of your next party.
If you’ve got an Amazon Alexa or Google Home device, then you’ve already found out that while intelligent speakers are okay, they usually aren’t that great to look at nor do they sound as amazing as one might hope.
There are so many interesting Android phones available now that choosing a new one can be daunting. Have you considered the new LG V30? It has a beautiful screen, an exceptional camera, and lovely thin bezels. But what more does the V30 have going for it?
Acer has been very, very busy at IFA 2017. They announced quite the lineup of products, so if you use anything remotely electronic there’s probably something there for you. (And if you don’t use anything electronic, please let me know in the comments how and why you’re reading this!)
Admit it, you’ve lost your keys before. We all have. Recently we found a set of keys my wife lost two years ago! There are Bluetooth trackers that will beep when initiated, but Pixie has a better plan; they use augmented reality to float a visual in front of you that guides you to your lost item.
If you’ve been waiting to see what Samsung would do to follow up their suite of fitness devices, you’ll be glad to know that today they have announced two new watches and a smarter pair of workout ready in-ear headphones. Say hello to the Gear Sport, Gear Fit2 Pro, and the Gear Icon X.
The location change had to be on the minds of most Dayton Hamvention goers this year. When you were in a location as long as Hamvention was, a location change is big for everyone. I am happy to say that the Dayton Amateur Radio Association, the group responsible for the show, was successful beyond any imagination.
Not quite as exciting as an Apple or Google Keynote, the Dayton Hamvention is this week, and I’ll be making the trek to the show this year in its first new location since I started attending, the Greene County Fairgrounds in Xenia, Ohio. Hamvention is like CES, but for Amateur Radio operators like myself, and it’s a lot of fun.
If you want to know more about what’s coming up for Acer, be sure to watch their global press conference. It is streaming now, and you’ll be able to watch it in full after the event.
What’s necessary to create a 360º video with true 3D sound? At the IFA Global Press conference, Dr. Andreas Sennheiser was there to explain the case for immersive sound when filming content (360º and regular) and to us and tell us about their new AMBEO Smart Headset.
