With Memorial Day Weekend in full swing, so are the sales. LG in particular has huge savings for many of their electronics including their TV’s, sound bars and even their home appliances that you should pull out your wallet for.
Mobile World Congress didn’t disappoint this year; there were so many new smartphones shown, and that’s where the LG G8 ThinQ made its debut. Loaded with tech, the G8 ThinQ is a compact communication device with fantastic sound, better than average cameras, a gorgeous screen, and minimalistic design.
Mobile World Congress has just wrapped up, and wow — it was a doozy. So many new devices were announced, and there was never a dull moment. We were in Barcelona for the event, and it was tough knowing that we could only pick 10 for our ‘best of’, but here they are — Gear Diary’s Best of Mobile World Congress 2019!
While the LG G8 ThinQ may not have the V50 ThinQ’s Dual Screen case, and its 5G connectivity, The G8 ThinQ does have another trick up its sleeve — or at the end of your sleeve, rather: Palm Vein Authentication. Whaaat?
LG came out in full force at Mobile World Congress by announcing their latest G & V series flagship phones. LG’s first 5G device is the LG V50 ThinQ. It will first be seen on Sprint’s network; that’s right, the 5G era has arrived, and it’s looking great.
Does anyone really need five cameras on their smartphone? That’s a question that LG wants us to figure out with their new V40 ThinQ. But beyond the cameras, the V40 ThinQ has a 6.4″ OLED display yet it’s still pocketable and easily managed with one hand. Should it be your next phone? Let’s talk about it.
At an event celebrating the company’s 2018 audio lineup in New York last week, LG was showing off a somewhat surprising newcomer – their first ever Google Smart Display, the LG ThinQ WK9 Google Smart Display.

Remember on the show “The Jetsons,” how George Jetson would hop on a conveyor belt and get washed, dried, brushed, and dressed by a machine? We’re not quite there yet, but LG is getting scarily close with their LG Styler, which is basically a Jetson shower system for your clothes!
On Friday the 13th, I had the opportunity to attend an event at the New York Film Festival. Rather than being your typical movie premiere, I was treated to six short films created by emerging NYC filmmakers — ranging from thriller to docu-style — all had been shot on the LG V30.

The roadshow starts today in New York City, just outside of Madison Square Garden. The other day we finally got all the details for the iPhone 8 and X; Samsung has come out with their S8 and S8+ and the Note8, and now we have the LG V30 to look forward to. The darling of IFA, LG’s newest Android flagship phone is impressive.
There are so many interesting Android phones available now that choosing a new one can be daunting. Have you considered the new LG V30? It has a beautiful screen, an exceptional camera, and lovely thin bezels. But what more does the V30 have going for it?

If you work outdoors, or you just like to spend a lot of time outside, you know that there are mini disasters that can occur which are out of your control. Dirt, wetness, and fumbling resulting in drops are to be expected, and not every phone can handle that kind of abuse. The AT&T LG X Venture, however, can.
I am in the middle of trying to work with Verizon to change my phone from a Z Force Droid to an iPhone. It’s not by choice, but certain things I need to access for my day job recently went iPhone-only, so I need to switch to iOS. This process did lead to one big realization, which is that Android phones are significantly overpriced for the value.
