The summer heat is here and so are pool days. Pools have become very popular in homes and safety is always of utmost importance. If you own the Vivint Outdoor Camera Pro, which I reviewed here, there is a new Vivint Pool Alerts beta feature that adds a second detection zone to alert you of activity near your pool area.

Vivint Pool Alerts

The Vivint Pool Alerts detection zone may have been designed for pools, but it can be used for any area you want to manage a little closer like an outbuilding.

Setting it up is super easy; you just go into the settings for that camera and turn on the Beta feature. A second box much like the original detection zone will appear to be set around the pool. My pool is just out of reach of the camera, so was difficult to set up, but I gave it a try … and it works!

  1. Oh, I really like this feature! Definitely worth it for the added security!

  2. Since this is presumably sensitive enough to trigger on small children, will animals also set it off?
