Released just a month ago as the least expensive Windows tablet at $99, HP’s new Stream 7 Windows 8.1 tablet was featured on a Black Friday sale at Office Depot. With an Intel processor, 32GB storage, and a 1280 x 800 resolution screen, the Stream 7 promises much for a low price. Here are some first impressions a week later.
It’s hard to find anyone these days with a smartphone who doesn’t use it for navigation in the car. In order to do that safely, though, you need a solid car mount to keep your device at a viewable level. Today we’re looking at two phone mounts from Tackform, as well as a bike mount!

Do you remember when desktop computers were so large that they had to go under (or to the side of) the desk? Oh wait; most of them still are still that large. The HP EliteDesk 800 G1, however, is an exception. The EliteDesk is small enough to fit almost anywhere, and using one requires very few compromises.
The Sony Xperia Z3 Compact is an amazingly powerful small smartphone. It has almost all the same features and specifications as the larger Z3, but it’s a more pocketable size. I went on the hunt for a Sony Xperia Z3 Compact case that would allow me to protect the phone and found the Poetic FlipBook. It’s a nice, inexpensive offering.
Being a real barbecue enthusiast, I have both a gas grill and a couple of charcoal burners. One of the bummers about cooking with gas it that it’s difficult to add real smoke flavor to the meats you cook. A new product called The Ribalizer aims to help make that a little easier for fans of propane gas grill cooking.
The last time my son had a cold, we couldn’t determine for sure if he had a fever because he wouldn’t hold still long enough for us to keep a thermometer under his arm (or anywhere else). Not long after, we were offered the Exergen Smart Glow Temporal Scanner to review, and I knew we had to give it a shot!
Nixeus offers their Nixeus ER-BKSL14 headphone stereo headset with corded microphone and volume control in sharp silver and black colors. This headset might give the initial impression of an uncomfortable fit, but that is far from the actual truth. These in-ear headphones are very light and comfortable with solid sound quality; they have well-designed construction with 13mm neodymium drivers.
In this world of multifunctional devices, the OxyLED T120 desk lamp proves that being a one-trick pony isn’t always such a bad thing. Built for reading purposes and desk work, this lamp can emit cool color light or warm color light and is great for those of us who experience eye fatigue on a frequent basis.
Most phone mounts I’ve used are not what you would consider elegant by any stretch of the imagination. They are usually made of thick black plastic, and they use a large claw-like clamping system to secure the phone. When your phone isn’t mounted, the equipment is unsightly; the iMagbond phone mount is not.
At CES 2014, Judie and I attended a Linkin Park concert. JBL did a special speaker installation in the theater for the night. We stood at those speakers, and boy was it loud; I couldn’t hear properly for the next day. Next CES I’ll protect my ears, and I’ll bring a pair of DUBS Acoustic Filters everywhere I go.
BiggiFi is a powerful Android device for your television, with a somewhat silly name. It’s a tiny Android-powered computer within an HDMI stick that’s hooked up directly to your television. You have access to the entire Google Play app library and can run most of its apps using your iPhone or Android phone for control. It retails for $89.

I’ve got a tendency to leave my phone plugged in when home, and while that isn’t necessarily bad for today’s Li-Ion batteries, it’s kind of wasteful to use a charger that is trying to continuously supply power to a battery that has already been topped off. I was recently sent a Velvetwire Powerslayer Kit, and it solves the problem beautifully.

This game keeps on giving more content and unlockables as players dance through the tracks by themselves or with up to eight friends plus extra fitness and karaoke gameplay.
If you are looking for a new pair of headphones that sound great, don’t look like every other pair of bright plastic headphones, and won’t break the bank, then you owe it to yourself to check out the Grain Audio OEHP over-the-ear headphones. At under $200, these headphones exude class, offer serious comfort and, best of all, they sound great.
Every now and then a smartphone accessory comes along that breaks the mold and surprises you in exciting and useful ways. That’s what happened when the Nova Bluetooth Off-Camera Flash for iOS arrived for review. This Bluetooth enabled flash lets you wirelessly take better pictures. Here’s a quick look at a phenomenal smartphone accessory concept that is also well-executed. The Nova Flash is a thin wafer of an accessory that has a translucent white side housing the LEDs and a black back. It is thick enough to have a micro USB port for charging but thin enough to put in your…
This holiday season, you will be using your phone, tablet, and (shockingly) your camera to take dozens if not hundreds of photos. Some will go up on Facebook or Instagram, but many will sit on the device waiting. Well, with the Epson Expression Photo XP-860 Small-in-One All-in-One Printer the wait is over. Use it to print pictures now and your memoirs later. This printer looks similar to the Epson All-In-One we reviewed last year. It is but the updates Epson packed into this next-generation printer are impressive. That is especially the case with its ability to let you print wirelessly…
Shure’s SRH145 Portable Headphones are a very nice offer into the collapsible headphone arena. The sound quality is very good and the headphones are totally attractive. I took them on a business trip to Chicago with me and was able to truly test how portable these cans are. Shure’s SRH145 Portable Headphones retail for $39.00.
Have you got a new iPhone 6 or iPhone 6 Plus? If you do, then I can’t recommend immediately putting a screen protector on it highly enough. All that Gorilla Glass; sure it’s stronger than glass, but you can still scratch it or crack surprisingly easily. How can a glass screen protector like the Armorz Stealth Extreme Lite help? Well, do you keep your phone in a pocket or bag with your keys? Do you ever have sand, dirt, or grit in your pockets? Gorilla Glass is fantastic, but it isn’t scratch-proof; unfortunately I’ve seen that first-hand. Covering your display with a glass…
