My living room home theater has gotten a bit too complex. There are remotes for the cable box, for the TV, for the Apple TV, and the Amazon Fire TV Cube. I’ve tried universal remotes but came back to using the individual devices. With the new Harmony Express, I’ve finally found a universal remote that works for me.
As someone who tried and failed at P-98, I’ve always been skeptical about those “all-in-one home gym” solutions that you see on Instagram, advertised to change your body in just a few short weeks. The best way to transform your body, other than keeping good nutritional habits, is a constant workout regimen. And ironically, one app that I’ve been testing for the past month has been helping to transform my dog-dad bod.
One problem that I find myself with, when I need to give my basketball some air, is that I can never find an air pump when I need it. That’s why I was interested in checking out the Atmos, a multiple-use portable air pump for the home and on the go.
For the past few years, I’ve been trying to increase Gear Diary’s presence on YouTube. Sure, we are approaching nine million lifetime views but that’s not enough. But do make a decent video requires a good microphone. I’ve tried a few, but MXL Podcasting APS Bundle promises to make it even easier.
Everyone likes the convenience and choice offered by using a single-serve coffee maker, right? But one of the biggest problems is that single-serve coffee makers produce unrecyclable waste. Some coffee pod makers offer to recycle used pods, but you have to return those used pods to them. Woken Coffee makes user compostable pods that reduce waste with minimal effort.
The one flaw with having a MacBook Pro is that if you want to get anything done, you will suffer from having to travel with a host of various dongles to get things done. If you have been looking for a single USB Type C hub to fix dongle hell, Satechi’s latest may be your best solution to a problem that only Apple could create.
With summer in full swing, my wife and I plan and sign a lot of traveling. When it comes to days spent hanging out in the sun, we usually bring our phones with us; while we could store them in a beach bag, we’d prefer having a bit more security for our valuables while we swim. That’s where AquaVault’s FlexSafe comes in.
Last year I reviewed an Ooni wood-fired pizza oven. The oven did a great job despite the fact that I used premade pizza dough. (And boy did I hear about it in the comments on the video.) The company sent me one of their new Ooni Koda gas-powered outdoor pizza ovens It’s pretty impressive. (And I used real pizza dough!)
We’ve covered the original Skyroam, a great way of connecting on the go regardless if you are a digital nomad or just someone who is traveling and needs to overcome the limitations of traveling data packages that your carrier might provide. The company sent me over their latest innovation, the Skyroam Solis X, which is proving to be even better than I expected.
I covered the OnePlus 7 Pro announcement with excitement. This flagship smartphone features a gorgeous 6.67″ AMOLED display; it has a top-of-the-line Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 chip, and you can get yours with 6, 8, or 12GB RAM and 128 or 256GB user memory.
I love Waterfield products and, as I have noted in previously, I use them daily. Waterfield offers several great ways to organize and carry your gear. Their latest is the Waterfield Developer’s Gear Case. If like so many of us at Gear Diary you carry too much, this may be the case for you!
InvisibleShield describes their Glass Elite for the Google Pixel 3a, and I assume other smartphones, as, “Our strongest screen protection ever.” I don’t know if that is true, but I do know that it is the easiest screen protector install I have ever done. The $39.99 screen protector is also crystal clear and maintains the screen’s touch sensitivity.
I have been a fan of Mahjong games since 1986 when I played Shanghai on the Apple Mac Plus, and so have been thrilled over the past several years to see many high-quality mahjong games released for smartphones, tablets and handheld game systems. Now the Nintendo Switch has been added to the list with the release of Pure Mahjong.
One thing you can be certain of when it comes to simpleHuman’s products are going to make the space that you place them in more organizers, and look a bit more modern.
At my first CES, I carried a huge backpack with a mirrorless camera and tons of gear. It was a lot. Thanks to the Shure MV88+ Video Kit, my iPhone is now a powerful tool for capturing video on the go. It is light, relatively affordable and, in combination with my iPhone and Shure’s free apps, it gets the job done!
It’s getting warm outside which can only mean it’s time to start traveling, and what better way to travel in style than with Away? We received their Aluminum Bigger Carry-On, and it’s a beauty.
Powered by artificial intelligence, the CM Translator by Cheetah Mobile is a two-way translator that can make sure that your conversations can be understood through dictation.
In a world of expensive robot vacuums, the Ecovacs Deebot 500 is an affordable option for families looking for a quality clean without spending a fortune. Deebot 500 is compatible with smart home assistants like Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant and can also be controlled via the Ecovacs mobile app. The Deebot 500 retails for $279.99.
There’s nothing worse than traveling places with multiple cables. If you know me, you know that I’m infamous for carrying 6-7 cables just in the event one stops working. But with UNO’s Cross-Device Cable, that’s a thing of the past.
Phones and tablets have become increasingly powerful. Sadly, the batteries powering them have not improved dramatically. They have certainly not kept pace with increases in processing power or screen size. Thankfully, mophie’s new line of powerstation universal external batteries will keep your mobile device running. With four different available capacities, there’s a battery for every need!
Have you always envied steakhouses for making sure their NY Strips and Burgers having awesome grill marks and want to imitate them? Well, now you can with Cuisinart’s Cast Iron Grill Press.
