Apple Pay Is Coming to Target!

I love Apple Pay. It’s hands down my preferred way of paying for things. Yes, it’s secure and all, but really, I just like not having to whip out my wallet. Since <checking my budget> approximately 80% of my spending is at Target or Wegman’s, my wallet can now go on vacation since Target now accepts Apple Pay!

OnePlus 6T Is Still the Best No-Compromise Affordable Phone

As the end of 2018 was beginning to coming into view, OnePlus made it clear that the year was still had some life left. They released the OnePlus 6T, their mid-year iterative update that takes the best of their most recent model and further refines it. The phone won immediate acclaim, and I wanted to share some of my thoughts.

JBL LINK VIEW is JBL’s Entry into the Smart Display Market

My home is filled with Amazon Echo devices but, as Judie and Carly reported, it was Google Assistant rather than Alexa that was on display at CES 2019. If the amazing JBL LINK VIEW I have been reviewing is any indication, there’s a good reason why. It is a fantastic device and Google Assistant is remarkably powerful.

Philips Emphasized Better Health and Better Sleep at CES 2019

This post brought to you by Philips. The content and opinions expressed below are that of Gear Diary. One of the biggest emphases placed during CES 2019 was on empowering people to monitor and improve their own personal health. Philips used CES to showcase “intelligent and personalized solutions that are tailored and adaptive to people’s unique needs, motivations, and characteristics.” These are the products and solutions that we thought stood out.

Why Your Hi-Fi Setup Is Incomplete Without a Graphic Equalizer

With the ever-growing vinyl boom gaining more ground among young music fans, there’s been no shortage of interest in vintage audio gear. Hipsters have been trolling through thrift stores in search of discarded stereo receivers, turntables, and even tape decks. Countless guides have been written about setting up a premium hi-fi setup—I even wrote one myself.

Gillette, #Boymom, and the Baby Steps to True Equality

I don’t spend much time on social media anymore, but one of the things guaranteed to make me grit my teeth whenever I did was #boymom.  Gillette razors apparently agree, with their controversial new ad asking men to be better. #bemoreliketheGilletteAd is a little awkward, but it’s way better than #boymom.

Zulu Alpha Portable Bluetooth Speakers Have a Cool Design But…

I love reviewing items that offer a different take on known products. That’s what caught my eye when I saw the JBL Soundgear wearable speaker. Rather than wearing earbuds that isolate you, Soundgear surrounds your head with excellent audio. At $200 they are pricey. At $99.99, the Zulu Alpha Portable Bluetooth Speakers take a similar approach for half the price.

Nomad’s New Natural Leather Accessories for Your Apple Devices Are Gorgeous

Nomad makes excellent wares for Apple Products like Horween leather Apple Watch bands, cases, and their wireless chargers that are compatible with any Qi-Wireless charging devices. However, there were two specific things the brand was missing: A natural leather Apple Watch band for smaller wrists and a matching case to hold Airpods. Effective today, both are available for purchase.

6 Technologies for Wine Lovers

Every wine aficionado waits patiently to drink that glass of Cabernet they’ve been saving for years, or takes longer perusing the wine menu than the food menu at dinner. Drinking a delightful glass of wine is a whole experience that involves multiple senses.

Anki Cozmo Is a Robot That’s Fun for the Whole Family

Anki Cozmo is a friendly robot with a one-of-a-kind personality. Cozmo is playful, can perform tricks, sing songs, and explore his environment. He can even recognize your face! You can also take care of him like a pet when he needs to be “fed” and “tuned up.” My kids are obsessed with Cozmo and yours will be as well.

These Sub-$20 OnePlus Type-C Bullets Earphones Sound Surprisingly Great

I’ve been impressed by OnePlus since Judie and I each bought the original offering. Since then, they have continued to deliver ever-more-powerful phones. I’m currently reviewing the OnePlus 6T. The phone is so impressive that my review has taken on a life of its own. In this short review, however, I want to look at the OnePlus Type-C Bullets Earphones.

Gear Diary’s Best of CES 2019 Awards

We found so many great new products this year at CES that we could have easily awarded 20 with a “Best of CES” designation, but alas, we could only pick ten. Here, in no particular order, are Gear Diary’s top 10 picks for Best of CES 2019.

Coal Portable Charger Has Style and a Little Something Extra

When I arrived at my first CES, I quickly discovered that the long days and congested cellular networks caused my phone’s battery to lose its charge in no time. We raced around looking for external batteries. From a design perspective, the Coal Portable Charger is a throwback to the external batteries of that time. But that’s only part of the story.

Swagtron Debuts Lineup of Sick New Electric Vehicles at CES 2019

At CES in Las Vegas, our friends at Swagtron dropped details on a ton of new, upcoming products for 2019. Swagtron is continuing their evolution from their beginnings with hoverboards to affordable alternative transportation options. In 2019, you’ll start to see a lot of new Light Electric Vehicles (LEVs), including e-bikes, electric scooters, and electric skateboards.
