Twenty years ago, just having a thin flip phone was the height of technological advancement. Now processors much thinner, and they are giving our phones more power than some computers from 20 years ago! The Qualcomm Snapdragon 750G 5G Mobile Platform is the latest in the giant leaps forward that mobile technology is taking.
If you’ve read the book “Ready Player One” you know it’s extremely uneven, but the main driver of the action is an immersive virtual reality experience. We’re not quite at the point of living a whole life in VR, but it is getting faster and more immersive, and with the new Oculus Quest 2 powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon XR2, it’s a tiny bit closer to reality than it used to be!
It is incredible how many aspects of our lives are integrated with AI and connectivity. It’s in little ways, like how CarPlay helpfully gives me directions to the same places I go each week, and in significant ways like how AI is being used for contact tracing and tracking COVID-19. All this requires solid hardware to back up all that software, and Qualcomm Cloud AI 100 Development Kit is designed to keep everything running quickly and smoothly.
It feels like we’ve been hearing about 5G forever, but it’s for-real happening, and we’re going to be getting all sorts of awesome devices zipping YouTube to us faster than ever. And, sure, we also need connectivity for remote work. But also TikTok. Anyway, Qualcomm is already on their 2nd generation of 5G PC chips, being rolled out this year with Acer!
Last month, during the virtual Samsung Unpacked event, we got a brief teaser along with some new information about the upcoming Samsung Galaxy Z Fold2 G5, and now it’s official. If you are someone who likes to have the latest and greatest technology, but you were a wee bit nervous about going with a first-generation Galaxy Fold device, your wait is almost over!
Continuing the necessary trend of online events during the COVID-19 global pandemic, Samsung held their Fall Unpacked event today. In it, they introduced five new products, including the Galaxy Note20 series, The Galaxy Tab S7 series, the Galaxy Watch 3, Galaxy Buds Live, and the Galaxy Z Fold 2.

TCL has sent us five brand new TCL 10 Pro Android smartphones to give away to five of our lucky readers. Ready for something to celebrate? Read on and enter.
Some people live life blissfully unaware of their phone’s battery life. They are the lucky ones. The rest of us fear the “low battery” signal, as it means being tied to a charger or an external battery. Qualcomm is coming to the rescue, with Quick Charge 5, which can take a phone from 0 to 50% in five minutes.
If you’ve been paying attention to the build-up surrounding the OnePlus Nord, you know that it is the brand’s latest accessibly-priced smartphone. The Nord is not going to be for sale in the US, but if you can get your hands on one, it doesn’t sound like you’ll be disappointed. The OnePlus Nord was formally introduced to the world this morning during an AR launch event.
5G is rapidly coming to phones, laptops, tablets, and anything else that connects you to the world. And no, it’s not going to give you COVID-19, but it is going to provide you with new speeds for gaming, streaming, photography, and smartphone AI. Basically, your phone is going to be better…faster…stronger…but thankfully won’t cost 6 million dollars.
It seems like we’ve been talking about it forever, but 5G is finally picking up steam and being rolled out on a massive scale. The true test of any new connectivity feature, whether it is wifi, Bluetooth, NFC, or 5G, is when it leaps from flagship feature to everyday option, and Qualcomm is taking 5G much closer with their new Snapdragon 690.
The first device to offer an optional LG Dual Screen case was the LG V50 ThinQ, which was soon followed by the LG G8X ThinQ. While I liked what LG was trying to do by adding the optional second display to both of those earlier models, it wasn’t until the LG V60 ThinQ with Dual Screen — mixed with the crazy times that we are living in — that it all finally made sense.
We recently recounted our six-month experiences with the Google Pixel 4/4XL, and if you took even a brief at my sections, you would see that ‘disappointed’ doesn’t begin to describe my take. My problems had very little to do with Android, as I have had another device that more than met my needs over the same period, so I wanted to highlight some of the coolest features of the Samsung Galaxy Note 10 Plus (or 10+, I tend to use them interchangeably).
In a stark reminder that we are in the middle of a global pandemic with travel bans and stay-at-home orders in full effect, the highly anticipated OnePlus 8 flagship series was finally formally announced this morning via a YouTube live stream.
The world is on lockdown, but technology marches on…and if you’ve been trapped with a sub-par phone and a tight budget, it’s TCL to the rescue with three new Android devices that leverage their expertise in sharp, vivid screens! Now you can watch Tiger King on your phone the way Joe Exotic intended!
The iPhone ushered in the era of slab phones and quickly became the design-standard for the industry. Companies looking for “the next big thing” are exploring dual-screen phones. Some look more intriguing than others, but all are pricey as hell. With the LG G8X ThinQ Dual Screen, LG has taken a unique approach and kept the phone affordable.
Folding displays may be the future, but that doesn’t mean the tech is quite ready for everyone’s use or that everyone will even want it or will want to pay for it. The LG V60 ThinQ 5G gives you a gorgeous metal and glass slab with excellent specs that can be turned into a dual-screen device when needed.
Virtual reality has gone from sci-fi to living rooms, though sadly we aren’t yet at Holodecks. However, we’re getting closer, thanks to the innovations of companies like Qualcomm, which is rolling out the Snapdragon XR2 Platform. It may not sound exciting, but don’t let the dry name fool you — it’s a reference design for eXtended Reality, aka better virtual reality!
The idea of an “always-on”, “always connected” computer has been around for a while. Unfortunately, the available technology wasn’t quite ready to make such computers possible. Thanks to the just-announced new Qualcomm Snapdragon Compute platform portfolio, the “always computer” may finally be at hand. Long battery life, AI, and cellular connectivity are just the beginning of this revolution.
Qualcomm Snapdragon Tech Summit has entered its final day with the introduction of the new Qualcomm Snapdragon XR2 Platform. The Snapdragon XR2 Platform is “the world’s first 5G-supported extended reality (XR) platform.” This new era of mobile computing is made possible by a combination of Qualcomm’s recent 5G and AI innovations and their proven XR technology.
This is the second day of the 2019 Qualcomm Snapdragon Tech Summit and it was spent doing a deep-dive into the features of Qualcomm’s new Snapdragon 865 and Snapdragon 765/765G. The new mobile platforms are impressive and, best of all, we expect devices built on these new platforms to be available later in the first quarter of 2020.
