I have a Nest Cam setup in my living room which notifies me every time something moves or makes a sound. I love it and even though at $199 it’s not the least expensive camera you’ll find, I do like that it displays an image within my Nest app alongside my thermostats and Nest Protect.
I’ve become enamored of smart lighting recently and have been playing around with a few brands. Elgato, who just recently rolled out their Eve smart home accessories, also offers a line of smarter lights. These aren’t part of the Eve system but they are impressive. I was sent the $99.95 egg-shaped Avea Flare for review.
I’ve been intrigued by HP’s new line of connected printers that anticipate when you’ll need ink refills — and they send them to you before you run out! The service is called HP Instant Ink, and to try it, I was sent the new HP OfficeJet 4650 MultiFunction Printer.
Over the past couple of years, I had managed to gain some very unwanted pounds rather rapidly. I thought at first that my weight gain was hormonal, or perhaps I had a thyroid problem. I was running and walking long distances regularly, and I was (sporadically) writing down what I ate, but I wasn’t seeing any results.
A little over a year ago, I received a “bed in a box” for review. Fast forward a year, and my wife Raina suggested moving from a queen mattress to a king. Eve Mattress was one of two companies kind enough to send one of their kind mattresses for review; I’ve been sleeping on it for two weeks.

I’ve had the opportunity over the past month of reviewing the W020i Wifi Alarm System & HD Wifi Camera made by SMANOS after stopping past their booth at CES 2016, and I can honestly say I love it. Smanos is well known for their home security products, and the W020 Wifi Alarm and IP6 WiFi camera is a whole lot more than the same. Living in an apartment, you might not think that you need a “smart home”, mainly because a lot of smart HomeKit products require installation, which may or may not be possibly without breaking some term of…

The first time I went to visit Raina, I made fun of the huge speakers attached to her stereo. “Those are freaking huge!?” I said. Fast forward a year, and I’m using the AudioEngine HD6 Powered Speakers. These speakers are fairly large bookshelf speakers. They are also the best speakers I have heard in a long time.
As time goes on, and my CFL bulbs are popping, I’m gradually replacing them with LED bulbs. I can get LED bulbs at Lowe’s for around 9.99 each. When Nanoleaf sent me the Bloom, I was impressed as it will also add dimming features to any lamp or fixture you have, and it looks pretty cool as well.

I’ve long been a blade shaver, and I was hooked on Gillette’s Fusion ProGlide line for a long time. Well, I am no longer paying Gillette’s exorbitant price, thanks to Harry’s; my face feels better for it, and so does my wallet.
If your TV watching reality includes a basket filled with six or seven different remotes, then I understand your pain. That was how things were at my house before Logitech sent their Harmony Elite Remote to review. I have to say that after a relatively painless setup, the results of consolidating have been so worth it.
In the past few months, I have found myself enamored with smart lighting technology. I have lights that can be controlled through my Amazon Echo in three rooms and when Raina and I get a house, I plan to have it throughout. One of the items I expect I’ll put in some rooms is the MiPow Playbulb Sphere. It’s awesome!
We’ve all gone through kitchenware pans and a skillet or two in our lifetimes, and to be honest, there aren’t a lot of good quality pans out there that won’t cost you a pretty penny for actual quality. More recently I had my cheap Black Friday skillet legitimately die on me (It was cheap) and I was pretty excited when Finex sent me their Finex Cast Iron Skillet to review. If you’re not familiar with Finex, what you should know is they are a company based in the United States that got their beginning courtesy of Kickstart, and ever since they’ve been…
Last year, Perry told you all about the Edyn Smart Garden that was successfully funded by Kickstarter. Well, you’ll be happy to know that the company announced a few partnerships that will help further their growth in business in the U.S. and beyond.

Isn’t it aggravating when you’re working on something important, the power goes out, and you lose your laptop’s internet connectivity? Sure, you could use your mobile phone as a hotspot if you’ve got a tethering data plan, but if your modem and router were plugged into the APC Network Battery Backup + Mobile Power Pack, you wouldn’t have to.
