Spiderweb Software alternates between releasing games in the Avernum franchise and a different game. First it was Geneforge games, and more recently Avadon, his first iPad release. In 2011 he brought the original Avernum to the iPad, and modernized and revamped it along the way so it was worth replaying for everyone. This fall we get Avernum 2: Crystal Souls!

It has been just over a year since I reviewed inkle’s release of Steve Jackson’s Sorcery! interactive game, with the second chapter of that game coming later last year. Now they are back with an interactive game based on Jules Verne’s ‘Around the World in 80 Days’, and once again they have produced a compelling and stunning experience!
Apple TV lets you access iTunes or view content from a Mac or iOS device on the big screen. The same holds true for Google Chromecast and Amazon Fire TV. Judie and I were huge fans of eWallet from its earliest days, back when we used Palms; we synced the info on our Palms to the eWallet program on our desktop PCs. Later on we used eWallet on our Pocket PCs. Once the app became available for iOS, we loaded it onto our iPhones and eventually also on our Macs.

Dream Catchers: The Beginning tells the story of Mia, who is away at school and her brother who comes to find out what has happened to her and everyone else at the school. It is a fun and engaging game worth checking out!
Temple Run was one of those unlikely successes – a simple ‘endless runner’ game that has you continuously running and trying to collect as many coins as possible before dying. It was the simplicity and easy charm that made the game quick to pick up and hard to put down. Now the game has passed 1 BILLION downloads!

Now they have released Left in the Dark: No One on Board, a chilling mystery adventure that has you investigating a ship that has turned up without crew or cargo!
While the basis of The Ghost Archives: Haunting of Shady Valley story is fairly typical for the genre – you are an agent investigating a haunted mining town whose inhabitants disappeared mysteriously and need your help to free them – the story itself and game wrapped around it are fun and engaging. Every year at CES and NAMM IK Multimedia presents a bunch of great new technology for music and media aimed largely at the consumer electronics market. This year was no exception, and now we have gotten word from IK multimedia that the iRing music motion controller is shipping! We will have a review soon, but here are some details.
A drifting, abandoned, deserted ship is a great setting for a mystery game, and add ghosts supernatural elements and you have a great premise for an adventure. Cursed Ship features an abandoned ship with loads of damage, seaweed covered walls, green fumes and ghostly figures. There is one flaw, but nothing that should stop you from checking this game out!
Nearly two years ago I reviewed the first Tales from the Dragon Mountain game, and while I enjoyed it in general, there were many areas I criticized. Now we have the sequel, and I’m again left in a quandary of positive and negative thoughts. But one thing is sure — it is better than the original, and more easily recommended.
I will have to confess that I missed playing the original Paranormal Agency when it first came out, and wasn’t a huge fan when I played it, finding it lacking compared to other genre games. However the sequel delivers a tense and engaging experience that is on par with some of the best games in the genre!
Microsoft has today announced the launch of Office on iPad and Android tablets. Not only have they embraced a “mobile-first cloud-first” world, Microsoft has pushed tablet specific versions of their bread and butter Office apps to iPad and Android before their own Surface platform.
I have a wide range of audio devices from which to choose. The one I use most? My Sonos system. (Check out our Setting Up Sonos video here.) Sonos has expanded their speaker offerings but the iOS and Android apps have remains mostly unchanged. Until now. New apps are on the way and they promise more music enjoyment than ever.
Last fall Spiderweb Software released Avadon 2 The Corruption for Mac and PC, and I said that the sequel improved on the original in every way. Now iPad users get the game optimized for the touch interface and with all post-release patches. How has the game transitioned? As with the original, the iPad version is my favorite!

Free-to-play games are huge money makers, but need to be based on a solid foundation. Now they’re back with Hidden City Mystery of Shadows, and this latest hidden object game keeps resources tight but delivers a fun mystery.
