Follow-Up Recording from Thumbscrew Arrives May 20th!

Two years ago guitarist Mary Halvorson stepped back from her ever-expanding group projects and released an album called Thumbscrew with what I called a ‘trio of equals’. Now the group is back and ready to release their next album in a few weeks, called Convallaria. And from the preview track, it sounds great.

Charge Your Apple Watch in Style with the HoverDock

Since the Apple Watch has been updated to include Nightstand Mode, there are many new options for charging the watch overnight. I recently was able to review the HoverDock by Just Mobile which retails for $34.95. Basically, it is a minimalist way to charge the Apple Watch while using it in Nightstand Mode. Let’s take a look.

Speedify Gives You Better Internet & Data Speeds on All of Your Devices

As a huge fan of using Speedtest.net to test the speeds of my internet connection, both on Wi-Fi and LTE, I’ve always seen ads for Speedify and wondered exactly what the program would do to actually help speed up my performance. So when I had the opportunity to review the iOS app for Speedify, I was intrigued. Now just to start, I am by no means a wireless networking guru, but I do find myself frustrated with a slow connection. Recently I’ve been traveling a lot, which means plenty of hotels with crappy internets speeds, and pricy “upgrades” for “less-crappy-but-still-not-good”…

Lifeproof for the 6s Plus Fixes Case Issues, Adds Variety Of Colors

Unless you’ve lived under a rock the past few years, you might have heard of Lifeproof, and know about all of their accessories for your smartphone, be it Apple or Android device. Lifeproof was nice enough to send me over their more recent NUUD case for the iPhone 6s Plus, and honestly, compared to my review last year, there are a lot of positive changes that I do enjoy! If you’ve used Lifeproof before, you know that they are one of the best Waterproof iPhone cases on the market. There are a lot of imitators on Groupon (which you shouldn’t buy), but none quite are…

The Mars Speaker Levitates, But Is The Sound Quality Out of This World?

We’ve reviewed many Bluetooth speakers on the market, but none quite like the Mars Levitating Bluetooth Speaker, and that is actually a good thing. Created by Crazybaby, the Mars speaker is the world’s first and only levitating speaker that not only looks cool, but it’s pretty damn impressive in terms of audio quality as well. Originally an Indiegogo project that was successfully funded back in 2014, the Mars Speaker arrived in beautiful fashion to my doorstep, and from setup to use, everything about the Speaker has been excellent, minus one or two things. Retailing at $329, the speaker is by no means…

2016 Honda Accord Gets a Makeover!

The Honda Accord has long been one of the most popular sedans in North America and was the first nameplate built here by the automaker. In its nine generations the model has seen significant upgrades and improvements and for 2016 Accord gets some appreciated styling enhancements along with technology upgrades.

‘Email’ by EasilyDo Is the Closest We Will Ever Get to the ‘MailBox’ App Again

There are a lot of email apps out there in the app store that feel as though they are helping out your productivity, but none are quite like Email by EasilyDo, a new mail app that not only will help you get your inbox emptied, it will also help you in terms of your productivity. Over the past month in a private beta, I’ve been testing out Email by EasilyDo, and it’s become a fixture on my home screen. I’ve tested many other email apps, and other than the native mail app and Google’s own “Inbox”, there are certain things that I…

Nokia to Acquire Withings, Makers of Health Tracking Devices

Withings isn’t exactly a household name outside of the fitness world, but they make fitness trackers, blood pressure cuffs, baby monitors, scales, and similar devices that all work together under the same ecosystem. That ecosystem has a new umbrella today, as Nokia announced they’re acquiring Withings and diving into the fitness tracking world.

Allergy Alert: DO NOT Buy Kellogg’s Products if You Have a Peanut Allergy!

Kellogg’s has never had a great reputation in the allergy world. For example, Kellogg’s would not tell someone if their allergen is in a product if the allergen is not required to be labelled by the FDA. Now they’re really getting dangerous, though, with the addition of peanut flour into various savory and previously nut free crackers.

Screwpop Brings More Tools to Your Pocket with the Wishbone Wrench

I reviewed Screwpop’s keyring pliers and utility knife a few months ago, and was extremely impressed with the combinations of low price/high quality/good utility. They’re even closer to putting an entire toolkit in your pocket with their new Kickstarter campaign for the Wishbone Wrench!

Timbuk2 Medium Copilot Luggage Roller: Ready for Globetrotting

You already know about Timbuk2 because of their excellent bags, many of which we’ve reviewed or mentioned here, but did you know that they also make rolling luggage? On my trip to the IFA Global Press Conference, I knew I’d need to live out of one carry-on bag for one week. Was the Timbuk2 Medium Copilot up to the task?

Going “All-In” on Android

I decided to give up my iPad this week in favor of an LG G Pad X8.3 from Verizon. Ironically, what set everything in motion was my wife’s iPhone 5C taking a swan dive out of the car and into certain death at the hands of the pavement. Likely out of embarrassment that it was an iPhone 5C.
