PlayStation Now Service Release Date Announced at CES 2015

On Monday, January 5, 2015, SCE President and CEO Andy House presented details on Sony’s PlayStation Now (PS Now) game streaming service at the CES show in Las Vegas, Nevada along with an official North American release date. This new Web service streams full games to Sony consoles, televisions, and other devices while offering game rental and subscription service options.

Xbox Live and PlayStation Network (PSN) services went out on Christmas Day with a group of hackers claiming responsibility. Both companies acknowledged network issues and are working to restore services.

This newly released wave includes Merida and Stitch in the Starter Pack and the separate figures Aladdin, Tinkerbell, Maleficent, and Donald Duck plus Hiro and Brymax from Big Hero 6.


Gran Turismo 6 Update Will Include BMW Car

BMW and Polyphony Digital, Inc. will make their rare BMW M Performance M4 Safety Car into a playable reality in the Gran Turismo 6 game on PlayStation 3, which is at a newly reduced price for the holidays. This free content will appear in an update later this month. The actual car was produced by BMW of North America.


PlayStation 4 Console Update Releasing October 28

Sony’s firmware update for their PlayStation 4 game console will release on Tuesday, October 28. This significant update will include SharePlay, YouTube sharing options, music files playable via external storage, and background visual themes. This update will prime players for the holidays and follows recent significant updates on the PlayStation Vita, Xbox One and Nintendo 3DS.

This service celebrates 20 years with a return to consoles, which began on the consoles like the PlayStation 3 three years ago. Last year’s users got service access codes (e.g. on PC) when purchasing Madden NFL 25.


Sony PlayStation Network / SEN Services Go Down

Sony’s PlayStation Network (PSN) and the Sony Entertainment Network had another outage Sunday from outside sources trying to “overwhelm” Sony’s servers. Sony stated the outage is now ended, and no personal information was accessed, which unfortunately occurred on PSN in mid-April 2011and took services out for over a month.
