Oregon Scientific Ultra Precision Weather Station Review – Accuracy Matters

Checking the weather compulsively is not considered odd where I live, and when people talk about what the weather is doing, it’s not just to make idle chit-chat. It’s also common for locals to measure and record their rainfall to the hundredth of an inch, and many use sophisticated tools like the Oregon Scientific Ultra Precision Weather Station.

Posterjack, Turn Your Images Into Art

It seems that today we all take tons of digital photos but very few ever become physical media. If there is a photo worthy of being on a wall, it is usually something special. Posterjack, Canada’s Photo Art Experts, now provides services in the United States. They offer quality printing on a variety of media. Read on for my experience.

Is NatureBox Worth Subscribing to for Healthy Snacks?

If you listen to a lot of podcasts on Leo Laporte’s TWIT network, you may have heard of NatureBox.  The premise is that the service will deliver healthy snacks to your home for as little as 20 dollars a month. That seems like a lot, but this could be a godsend if you, like me, work from home.

Ice Balls Review: Make those Frozen Spheres that Mixologists Love

When I was in Barcelona, a “steampunk gastro-bartender” named George made me one of the foulest-tasting alcoholic concoctions I’ve ever tried. It didn’t matter, though. After watching all of the steps he took to create my gorgeous drink, capped with the flavored ice balls he was rationing out as if they were gold, I sipped and pseudo-savored that sucker.

ZVOX SOUNDBASE.420 Offers Huge Sound for an Amazingly Low Price

The biggest challenge with televisions these days, at least in most cases, is the lousy sound they offer. A huge television with a beautiful big screen and smart functionality may be great, but if the speakers stink watching it won’t be enjoyable. The ZVOX SOUNDBASE.420 fixes that for surprisingly little money, and it’s simple to set up.

2014 Volkswagen Passat TDI Is One Dandy Diesel

It was only a few months ago when I reviewed the 2014 Volkswagen Passat midsize sedan. This past week, I’ve found another VW Passat in the test driveway; this review model outfitted with the TDI diesel engine backed by manual gearbox, so this review is pretty much just going to be an update for the powertrain variation.

Henge Docks Readying Vertical Docking Station for MacBook Pro Retina

My “desktop computer” is actually a 15″ MacBook Pro with Retina Display that is connected to a 27″ iMac. Each time I dock the laptop I need to individually plug in a series of cables; it is a pain. Thankfully, Henge Docks is getting ready to ship a docking station specifically designed for the MacBook Pro with Retina Display.

Speck DuraFolio for iPad Mini Review

My search for an iPad mini case that strikes the right balance between style, protection, and bulk brought me to the Speck DuraFolio for iPad Mini. It offers unique styling, food protection and despite initially looking a bit bulky, it is surprisingly svelte. Would it become my daily driver and go-to case for my iPad mini? Only time would tell.

Bison Airlighter Review: A Flamethrower Almost Anyone Can Handle

Lighting a fire in your barbecue pit or pot belly stove is not always a simple task; sometimes that wood just will not ignite no matter how much you baby it along. For all of you who’ve ever sprayed a pile of hardwood with lighter fluid in frustrated defeat, I give you the Bison Airlighter — your own personal flamethrower.

Poetic FlipBook for Sony Xperia Z2 is Inexpensive but Not Cheap

My search for a case for the Sony Xperia Z2 led me to the Poetic FlipBook. I was initially skeptical. After all, the case has an MSRP of just $14.95. Still, for that price I figured it was worth checking it out. When the case arrived I was more than pleasantly surprised by what I discovered. Inexpensive doesn’t mean cheap.

Auvi-Q is a Chatty Epi Pen Solution

Food allergies are stressful, but when you have an allergy that could lead to a severe reaction requiring epinephrin, they’re extremely scary. Remembering all the steps to administer medicine to yourself or someone you care for can be tough, which is why the Auvi-Q, a talking injector, is such a brilliant idea.

Leef Copper Edition Surge 64GB USB Flash Drive Review

I love my 15″ MacBook Pro retina, but I still kick myself for settling on the 500GB model when I should have waited and bought the 750GB version. Now the MBPr is available with 1TB, but I’m not ready to upgrade. External memory is my best option, so I’ve been trying the Leef Copper Edition Surge 64GB USB Flash Drive.

Ford EPA Mileage Ratings Revised (Again)

I was going to bring readers yet another review this morning, but instead wanted to update information presented in a recent piece about some Ford vehicles we tested. Apparently Ford has had to revise EPA mileage ratings for some of its vehicles again — including 2014 model year Fiestas and 2013 and 2014 model year hybrids and plug-in hybrids.

Sony SmartBand SWR10 First Look Video

The Sony SmartBand SWR10 is Sony’s current fitness band offering. Specifically designed to work with phones like my Xperia Z2, it also works with a number of other Android devices. Available in a variety of colors, the Smartband works in tandem with the Lifelog App to record your activity and much more. I got mine yesterday, and I’m already impressed.

Amazon Launches Prime Music Streaming Service!

Last month Carly noted some of the reasons that Prime Music as rumored – limited selection, older titles – made sense in the context of the other Prime offerings. Well, overnight Amazon introduced Prime with access to a million songs and hundreds of curated playlists. The depth and breadth are limited, but it provides a decent entry point.
